What do you need to know before going from beginner to intermediate surfer?
There are many factors to take into account when learning how to progress in surfing like what type of surf spot is best for your level, the equipment soft top or hard top, and also knowing the basic safety of surfing, not to endanger yourself or others.
Learning how to surf is supposed to be fun but also challenging, like learning any new skill. You need to both learn the different steps of catching a wave but also working on your paddling strength, which will take a while. But how can you learn all the things about surfing when just starting the sport? To get familiar with everything we recommend that you take lessons through a private instructor or a surf camp, in Bali you can get surf lessons almost on every beach that has consistent waves.
For most people catching the waves is the most difficult part, because of learning how to time the paddling but also how to be around the other people in the line up. It is not easy to learn a skill alone with other people around you, so the instructor gives you space to focus on learning how to surf and forgetting about your surrounding.
